Currently being released in Britain are the electronic cigarettes we designed for Neo. The project included the design of a number of cigarette series, a unique package design and promotional items such as an ashtray that functions merely as a place to rest your cigarette.
Usually, when designing a new technology there are a few stages of “adoption” by its consumers. The initial design is usually inherited by the products classical form, thus maintaining the familiar appearance, even though there is no actual need to do so. With electronic cigarettes this meant that the first products in the market resembled regular cigarettes in size, shape, color and even the tip “lighting up”. Our objective was to design “the next generation”.
The products we designed preserve certain elements of the original cigarette but take the look and feel to a new stage as a symbol of status. The inspiration for the design was drawn from the world of fashion and jewelry design placing emphasis on strong textures, dramatic colors and the ceremonial feel of smoking.
